How Long does it take to pay a credit card?

I set up my payment from Lloyds TSB to Goldfish to pay my credit card for 31 March.
I looked yesterday and it hadn't left my account. I immediately set it up to go out asap.
It will not go out till Monday 3 April and the due date is 5 April
Will it get to them on time??
They say it takes 4 banking days to pay - this is only 2 - I don't want to pay interest by being late by a day.
I pay my account in full each month

Oops! Hit 'Thanks' bottom accidentally ...
Why all these problems? Why cannot you pay by a Direct Debit. If the payment leaves your account on Monday you will be more than lucky if it is credited to your CC account on 5th of April ...CCStar wrote:I pay my account in full each month0 -
I believe that Goldfish is one card which will take an over-the-phone debit card payment (effective same date?) If so, that is quicker than Monday-Wednesday.
Lloyds payments to external accounts should take two working days - so your payment should get there in time via that root. The problem with Lloyds used to be (might not be now, but don't know) that whilst you could set up any payee straight away any payment requested (for a new or existing payee) would still not leave the account for another day.

The question is :- When exactly on the 31st did you set this up ? Before close of business ? If not, then it won't go out til monday. If it was before don't be unduly concerned as sometimes Lloyds are rather slow in showing debits made on line.
I paid my Amex Platinum using my Lloyds account via the Amex website on the 30th and its still not showing up as of 1500 Saturday.0 -
Hi CCstar
If you set up internet access to your goldfish card you can make a payment by debit card which is classed as a same day payment if made by 3.30pm on a working day.

I was in the same situation last year. I nearly lost a 0% deal - 2nd month in on a 12 month BT + purchase deal - doh!
Lloyds Bank + Sainsbury's CC
I hedged my bets and made 3 minimum payments.
1. A telephone debit card payment late on a Thursday night to Sainsbury's.
2. An internet bank payment Thursday night (i.e ASAP - Friday).
3. Payed a cheque in a bank branch Friday morning.
Results.
1. Credited to CC on Monday
2. Credited to CC on Tuesday - go figure
3. Credited to CC on Monday
I was surprised the internet banking was slowest, I thought it would be fastest.
Lloyds branches do have those machines which process bill payments there and then - no need to wait for the end of day processing etc.0 -
I usually pay it well in advance and swore I did but I have paid it off using the debit card to make sure and arranged for a direct debit to automatically take it out to prevent this happening again

I did this the other month..so i called up the credit card company and told them that the payments on it's way and that i was hoping it would get there in time, but it may not, as i'd left it a day or so late. When the payment arrived a day late, i called them ( tesco personal finance) again. Because i'd phoned in a couple of days before, and also because i had a good record of always paying off the balance each month..they let me off the interest payments.
good luck0
