Hi
Trying to install some s/ware for family tree research, (Personal Ancestral File vers 5.2) and part way through the install process I get the message "The InstallShieldEngine ikernel.exe could not be installed" , any ideas what this means and can I get around it?
Please reply as though to an idiot as not particularily savvie on the techie front!!
Cheers

Have you a restricted account, are you using XP?0

No, I'm using the ole fashioned 98! Have loaded the previous version 4, and it loads and works fine, just that have done a huge amount of research on another PC using the latest, and the files are not backwards compatible!0

Is it 98 compatible?0

Are you using ZoneAlarm for your firewall? If so turn it off and then try installing the software.Vedra Nativa0

Hi
electron - just checked it (yes I should have done that first), and it is compatible with 98.
The_Lambton_Worm, yes I do use Zonealarm, and I've tried the install with it switched off, and it still doesn't work. Thanks for the suggestion though.0 -
