Estimate for removal of chimney breast

Options
Investigation: remove section of ceiling in kitchen to allow discussion of support to chimney stack with BCO. It is difficult to say exactly what could be agreed. However, we have priced below what we believe to be acceptable and likely. Allowance for steel - 178 x 102 x 19kg, approx 4.4m long, seated on padstones, set into rear wall and wall between hallway and kitchen. Rebuilding localised brickwork under breast if necessary. Steels to be provided fire painted. We would need the following preparation carried out:- kitchen - remove 2 wall units, cornice and pelmet from all walls in kitchen and set aside. Remove gas range, cover granite work surfaces with ply wood. Protection to floor throughout kitchen, plus dust sheets from front door to kitchen. After works finished, leave ready for plasterer, to plaster and recove as necessary.£1,100 + vat. Is this quote fair? Am not sure about preparation, am I the one to remove wall units and gas cooker, have not got a clue what to do? Thanks

I may suggest you cover the kitchen floor with plywood (if it is tiles / dear wood / laminate). If it is cheap laminate or lino it may cheaper to just replace when finished.
    baldly going on...
