To cut a long story.
In 2007 my fiancee changed Home & Contents Insurance from Zurich to MoreThan. When filling in the online application she somehow missed declaring a claim for November 2006 which Zurich honoured. This week this info has come to light and MoreThan have now made our insurance void claiming they would not have accepted the policy in the first place.
Neither of us have a criminal record and both in full employment but are finding it difficult to now get insurance.
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF AN INSURANCE COMPANY THAT WILL OFFER COVER UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES.
Thank you.

This company should be able to offer you a quote within 48 hours http://www.bureauinsure.co.uk/

Having a policy declared void is very serious and will affect you taking virtually any type of Insurance (Including car etc) for a very very long time and increase the cost. It may be worth looking into getting More Than to review their decision.

How much was the claim in 2006 for and what was the claim for?

Thanks. The claim was a carpet and was £911.

The Royal Bank of Scotland will insure from November of this year (3 years up) but thats 5 months without insurance, which is very nervous for us.

Have you told RBS that you have had an Insurance Policy refused / cancelled / voided?

Is the £911 claim the only claim you have ever had? If its the only one I'm surprised that More Than have voided your policy as a claim of this value would often be accepted by an Insurer. Which would mean that provided you had not intentionally miss lead them they would not normally void the policy.

Have More Than refunded you the entire premium from the last renewal?

Are there other reasons why they have voided the policy?

    RBS are aware.
Yes, its the only claim in recent -less than 7 years. We're waiting to hear back from them regarding refund - should it be the full amount we have paid?

No, the only reason they gave for voiding was that they would not have accepted in the first place.

That surprises me as most companies would accept a claim for under £1000 for a new customer for this type of claim.

I would suggest you try getting a quote from More Thans website for the same details as when you went to them and making the claim the same age as when you went to them. If they accept you then you could have grounds to argue they should not void the policy.

Generally if they void the policy they say the contract is voided and they would not have paid any of your claims so refund the money.

Did they ask you for a written explanation as to why you did not declare the claim
