Crossbreed Dogs Insurance

I just wondered what people do when they have a crossbreed and looking for pet Insurance. Only I am looking for quotes as my insurance is coming to renewel and just want to make sure I have best quote.
Do you put the breed of dog most like yours or do you just put Crossbreed in? Only I have a cross Staff and when I put Crossbreed rather than Staff I get a 20% drop in price. I mean I am happy with that but anything that makes it cheaper with insurance just makes me worry.

I have also wondered about this and look forward to see what others have to say.
We are getting a Lakeland terrier-cross next weekend from a rescue group, and are starting to look into insurance. I notice AXA just gives crossbreed or Pedigree dog, whereas HSBC list all breeds including cross breed.
HSBC quoted £227.16 for a crossbreed and £150.84 for a Lakeland!!0 -
If its a cross breed, I (personally) would use cross breed. Dont know if its the right thing to do or not actually, but thats what I would do.
They tend to be (complete generalisation I know) alot healthier, or rather less prone to breed specific ailments, so I think thats why they're cheaper, insurance wise
. At the end of the day, it is a cross breed, so you're not lying to them.
Thats what I would do if it was me, im sure someone will come along though with more experience.
I know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:0 -
I'd put Crossbreed in & if it said Staff x then that, if not just x breed0

My current insurance company lists every breed and then every breed cross0

Isn't it to do with 'replacement costs' if the dog dies? If someone has paid a lot more for the dog then don't they expect more back in sad events. Also for advertising etc if lost?
I don't think crossbreeds are any cheaper at the vets. It looks like my terrier cross is going to cost £70 a month for anti allergy medications. Yes she's worth it and no I still don't regret not insuring her, I'm just hoping we can get her comfortable.Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20
