Falsely Accused of owing money

I recently was chased by a debt collector for money, they sent thru a few letters getting more and more serious and saying court action would be taken against my name or bayliffs would be sent round. The money was for gas and electric bills for scottish power for a house I had previously lived in.

It turns out the bills were for when I was not living at the property, and I have been cleared in writing by Scottish power.

Obviously I am not happy with this, and have spent alot of time and money on phone calls to sort this out, it also caused a lot of stress and worry. Is there anything I can do to get some sort of compensation from Scottish Power?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

You could write to them with an itemised phone bill, highlighting all the calls to them, and ask them to pay for them?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I intend to do this, but I was thinking more along the lines of compensation?

its not worth the extra hassle and stress of chasing up

i dont know if your genuinely deserving of it or not but either way, chasing it would offer very little money for alot more aggravation.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

Plus any reasonable costs. Ask for 2 million and haggle.
On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.

Demand they send you a bucketful of electricity by way of compensation.

Well im not exactly looking for loads, but I was just wondering if I could get something out of them. I am pretty annoyed with the whole situation and the fact they didnt check with me first when I was living at the property and just somehow found my name and somehow managed to locate me and handed it straight over to a debt collector, which would could have ended with me having bayliffs round or a CCJ against my name is not exactly fair.

But it didn't end with those things. You don't get compensation for what could have happened.
