Mending shears
We have edging shears that are good and sharp, but the nuts work themselves loose after just a few cuts, so they don't work. No matter how much we tighten up the nuts, they come loose and won't cut more than a few feet at a time. Any idea how to fix them and avoid buying a new pair very welcome?
Many thanks.

How about a nyloc locking nut?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

You nead a threadlock /screwlock adhesive, these come in various guises, a common name is Loctite, has different numbers, like 221 to indicate what it does
Comes in small bottles, apply one drop or so to the threrad, tighten & it will set and lock the trhread
Look in Halfords or simliar type of shops
If the nut is a common thread, you could replace it with a "nyloc" nut, this has a part of it made from nylon, and as you tighten the nut a new thread is cut into the nylon part, which locks the nut in place, used all over the place where vibration can be a problem, like ships, planes etc
Again look in Halfords etc

Thanks to you both, obviously great minds think alike! I will investigate further. Any idea how much a nyloc nut will cost approximately?0

About 50p if you can find a hardware shop that still sells them individually. Alternatively you need someone who has this sort of thing in the shed.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
