I am currently hoping to buy a house and would like to see what work I can do to it. Is there anywhere online I can buy plans of the property that show it as it was on 1 July 1948 ?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Nice to save.

I doubt it. Even if your council has putting plans online, it won't go back to pre-internet days.

you could get yourself a delorean and fit it with a flux capacitor and go back to the actual date and have a look? but make sure you dont bump into your mum, who finds you strangely attractive.. but then you have all kinds of high jinx making sure your parents still get together at the school dance so you will be born??
was that the date the clock got struck by lightening?? if not i'd take some extra fuel with you or you wont get back...0 -
If you wanted to do any improvements or alterations in a house built in 1948 surely the council would'nt consider that when deciding whether to pass them, they would only look at the house as it is now.
Building restrictions in 1948 would not have been as strict as they are today.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Damn, I have a shop where I sell plans of houses as they were on the 3rd July 1948.
Really wish I could have helped.
But seriously, are there plans on the land registry? Anything posted regarding later extensions that may include original plans? Anything on the local authority planning portal regarding the same?0 -
The only place you'd find any plans would be in with the original deeds if they still exist. Not many have plans in them though.
Just looking at the house will give you clues as to later additions, different types of brickwork will give big clues. Look at neighbouring houses to establish what is original.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks so much for the sarcastic answers they are just so helpful lol.
The reason for the date is because under the new regulations you are allowed to build certain extensions but only up to a certain amount and they go by the house as it was in 1948. I just wanted to find out if anyone since then had added extensions as I would like to convert the loft asnd possibly extend the kitchen and would like to know if I need planning permission or not which is why I asked my original question and included that date.Nice to save.0 -
If the council has no records indicating any extension and nor do you, it is probably safe to assume that there have been none since 1948 - it looks like no-one would be able to prove you wrong.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards.
