Renualt Clio Campus or Kia Picanto?

I have been thinking about getting a new car for some time now.

I do want new as I`ll get warranty, full AA cover and no MOT`s for 3 years.

Was looking at a Kia Picanto, but saw an ad in local paper last night for a new Clio Campus 3 door 1.2 8 V.

I have two children 4 and 6 1/2 so was looking at a 5 door, but been without a car since before xmas and not sure if a 5 door is a must. Just want a car.

Which do you think is the better?

Clio is £6033 OTR- special deal-been on for some time

Picanto £5995 and does dot look like any of the dealers want to reduce at all

Thanks
April Grocery challange £175

Spent week 1 £29.90
week 2 £62.64, TOTAL £92.54

i have a 3 yr old renault clio and 3 door, i dont have kids and so find the 3 door is okay however i expect if you are using the back seats every day then get the 5 door.
The clio is a nice car, i love the radio controls by the steering wheel (small things).
remember to ask they fill the tank :D

  • we have a clio, and they are great to drive and to insure and run.
kid wise, we have 2 in there at any time one 2 year old and a 9 the 2 year old in her car seat and theres still plenty of space.
the plus side of going renault is i think they're still doing 4 years free servicing.
and when we brought ours we done a proper search on the net for the identicle car but cheaper, found 1 30 miles away and told salesman and he matched it.
but then i've never been in a kia so i'm a bit more favoralble towards.... the MINI!!! ha ha. nah i'd go clio...

    Should be an easy one.
You have kids so safety should be a first concern. The Clio has 4 safety stars and the Kia has 3 NCAP stars.

My wife has a clio and we can't fault it for a small car.

The only thing I would say is to see how much more they would want for the 16v version. I have heard that it is a much better engine.

Both are good cars. I'd personally look online @ car brokers to get the price down for either..people like https://www.dealdrivers.co.uk or https://www.drivethedeal.com etc etc will no doubt get you a discount!

    happy hunting :D

Just think what the Kia will be worth in three or five years time. Then go buy the Renault.

I don't have any kids (maybe one day, though! ;)) but think I'd be very reluctant to have two of them sat behind me in a three door car. I'd be too concerned about them not being able to get out in an accident. But that's just my view...

We had a 1.2 Clio 16V 5 door traded in recently, it was a 51 plate with 30000 miles on the clock. We paid £3300 for it and traded it for £3790 24 hours later. The Kia is a very very good car and in April's Glass's guide the second hand values have actually increased (Due to very strong sales and good image/equipment levels). Do not be put off by 1 star difference on the NCAP ratings. My dad drives a Kia Sorrento and knows that in five years it will be worth less than the same specced car by another brand, but he will keep it. So to summise if you were going to keep it for a while the Kia is a good purchase, but the Clio will be worth more for trade in values. Make your own mind up, do not be lead by others. Drive both, decide which one is right for you.

I'd say the Clio as well; it's certainly a no-brainer as far as depreciation goes.
My daughter drives a 1990 one which is still in great nick. When did you last see a 1990 Kia?
    Can I help?
