Airbus A380-800

Has anybody flown in the A380? Got any experiences (good or bad) to share?
I'm planning to go to Oz for a month with my OH shortly; she'll fly from the UK and meet me in Dubai before flying on to Sydney. There appears to be a choice of either 380 or 777 (although mostly 380) for this route with Emirates. I know Dubai is set up for this aircraft, but how well do the other international airports handle it? Are there significant delays due to boarding/ disembarking on only one level?
Thanks for any comments.

The airports that have been modified can board/disembark passengers from both upper and lower levels. I'm sure this includes Dubai as they're running a few routes with A380s now. If she is transitting Dubai then you might want to make your choice based on transit times. I've had the opportunity to travel to BKK on the A380 but the transit times were crazy compared to getting a B777-300.0

Flewn the Singapore Airlines version twice recently, and absolutely no difference in loading times and disembarkation as it's all very smooth. Great plane to be on, amazingly quiet, but at the end of the day you're sitting on a plane for 20-odd hours, so no economy class flight is going to be comfortable.
With that in mind, for my future long haul flights i'll still be sticking to Malaysian Airlines with their extra 2 inches in economy, which to me, makes a massive difference over a long haul flight! And who needs 7000 TV channels when 700 is enough!0 -
A380 you will have no problems what so ever, Sydney has been having these through for a while.
Moonchild totally agree, Malaysian airlines fantastic, along with Singapore,
Only delay I have had with A380 was singapore airlines first flight into Heathrow, but you can guess why,
I travel on them alot and they are good planes, and the noise level is slightly lower as well,
So enjoy your flight...0 -
Don't forget that if you base your choice on the type of aircraft it may not necessarily be available on that date due to operational reasons, this happened to me in the past with Emirates and the A380.
(PS: sorry to go OT but Moonchild and Trust, nice to hear your comments re: Malayasian as we are flying with them later this year

Yeah, I know what you mean.
As I'm already in the Middle East, my choice of airline is rather limited, so it looks like the best bet is me getting to Dubai to meet the OH (coming from the UK) then flying on with Emirates. As this route is mostly A380's (which I've not flown in yet) I thought I'd just get a heads up. Thanks for the tips.
