19 With Absolutley NO Credit History!!! Need A Bank Account

Hi Everyone!

I'm brand new... and have a strange story and question.

I'm 19 and up until a week ago was trapped under the wrath of a very controlling mother. I've never had a bank account of any kind or even a phone. Therefore I have absolutley no credit history!!! I've just moved 200 miles (okay so maybe I just packed some bags and didnt tell her I was going) and I need to set up a bank account and start getting a credit history. I would either like a HSBC account or a Barclays Account but the only piece of ID I have is a Provisional Licence and I want the bank thats more likeley to give me a credit card after 6-12 months.

I will also be getting a cashplus creditbuilder account soon. My average income to the account should be approx £540 pm and I'm curently unemp:mad:

Thanks :)

first of regardless of how controlling your mother was, i would contact her to let her know you are safe and well, maybe she was controling has she was over-protective, and worried about you, which means she loves you loads,

so please just write her a letter or give her a phone call just to say you are ok.

as for the bank account you will need some proof of id, plus you will need some utility or formal letters etc, with your address on it, so if you just packed some things into a bag etc, and are unemployed, how and where are you living?

best thing to do is go into one of these banks you mentioned and ask them what you need to open a bank account..

but please contact your mum....she must be going loopy with worry

edit... why such an ergency to have a credit card? to be honest if i knew then what i know now about credit cards i wouldnt touch them with a barge pole..

Barclays will open on a passport alone, or a driving license - even if it has the wrong address, provided that it has your full name and date of birth.
