You will want 1080p to get the full experience of blu-ray moviesPeter: Hey Lois... what's this word? Lois: Evil. Peter: And this one? Lois: Knievel. Peter: And this one? Lois: Was. Peter: And this one? Lois: Born. Peter: And this one? Lois: In.
Peter: And this one? Lois: Montana. Peter: Ah... oh, hey Lois did you know Evil Knievel was born in Montana? Family Guy - I Take Thee, Quagmire 04x210 -
hi, thanks for replying. yes read this but i see on another forum that someone said if you were watching standard def then 720 would be better, i suppose if i looked at in percentages thn 90% of the time it would be standard definition.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0

If you're mainly watching standard def, why not just get an old Panny CRT

How long do you intend to keep the TV for? If its just for a few years until HD content is equal to SD content, then a decent 720p plasma will serve you well.
I bought a Sony 40" 1080p TV last year, SD content looks absolutely fine on it - even BBC iplayer / 40d looks ok, but I'm glad I didn't go for a 720p set, HD content and PC gaming look amazing on it.0 -
Go to a shop and get them to show you what the picture is like with HD TV, SD TV and Blu Ray sources, then you can make an informed decision. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

I think if i had a 46" television, i'd have to sit in next doors to watch it!Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Heres some general reviews to get the ball rolling ~

From what ive seen thus far, toshibas are a bit poor quailty these days (Which is a shame cos their cathode ray tvs used to be top of the tree):idea:0 -
I think 720 is altogether a great and cheaper way to go for tv viewing and video games. But for HD and Blu Ray movies 1080p would be awesome. You can consider getting consumer reviews and shopping assistant for the best brand. Sky hd has a fair list of hd channels at the moment. Most of it's hd broadcasts at the moment are in 720p, which is sharp and vivid, if not quite up to the visual wonders of 1080p, but is still very good though.0
