AA 4.05% Internet 16 month Fixed Rate Savings Account

Any body opened one of these accounts? I've closed my Saga Top 5 tracker which was down to 1.88% and opened the AA account because I didn't need to touch the money for 16 months anyway.

Whil the numbers are small in difference, the 4.05% figure is a bit naughty.

    The AER is actually 4.01%.

It's still in a "worth considering" price range though.

Can the AA account be topped up over the 16 month period?

I think so because it just says "To take full advantage of this offer, your initial deposit should be for the full amount you'd like to invest. This must be sent via cheque and drawn on the same account that you have nominated as your linked account.".

There will be better deals than this inside 18 months, too long to fix IMO ...

This account is not available to joint account holders. So you can't spread your tax allowance between the two of you.
