No Sound On Internet

Options
Hi, I am having problems with my sound, when surfing the net and trying to play games or to browse any site with sound, there is no sound. My speakers are ok because I can play cds and hear sound on other applications just not when on the internet. This has only been happening for the last two days. I wonder if any one could suggest what might be causing this.
Thank you.

You have not stated which browser you are using but if it is IE, do Tools, Internet Options, Advanced and scroll down and see what boxes are checked in the Multimedia section.

Hi I tried updating the audio drivers, it said that there were no updates available. When I click on the little volume control icon at the bottom of the screen I get a message saying that there are no active mixer devices availalbe, could this be anything to do with it. thankyou.

No sound from Web pages in Internet Explorer (XP)
To hear sound while viewing web pages with audio, perform the following steps:
    1. Click Start, and then Control Panel.
    2. Click Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices and then Sounds and Audio Devices.
    3. Click the Sounds tab.
    4. In the Program events list, find and select Windows Explorer.
    5. Select Complete Navigation and set " sounds" to " notify.wav"
    6. Start Navigation and set the " sounds" to " Windows XP Start.wav"
    7. Click OK.

Thank you, I did all that, still no sound. I notice when I click on the sounds and audio device tab and then the volume tab it says that there is no audio device. Could it of some how uninstall its self. We did have a power cut yesterday when the computer was on.
    Thank you.
