British Gas Query in London Region

I am a British Gas Customer and am on the old Click Energy 6 tarrifs. I have been to a few price comparision websites and it seems that this tarrif is the cheapest for electricity and that the British Gas Web Saver 3 tarrif is cheaper for Gas. I have a very high gas bill in excess of £1000/year. Would I benefit moving to the Web Saver 3 tarrif as I understand that you are tied into the contract till 2010 and you have to pay a penalty of £30 if you switch before then. Any other people in the london area face a similar dilema?

lol, I'm Scottish, so expect my answer in advance

you can save approx 4.8% by doing that, why haven't you done it yet.

oh yeah, leave the electricity on your old tariff, the savings are more than the duel fuel discount you lose. I included that in the 4.8% :-)

  • Thanks guys. Just logged into my online account this morning and signed up for Gas WebSaver3 tarrif. I noticed that it stated that paperless billing is compulsory.

It seems that all utility and finance companies like banks, credit cards, phone, mobile, broadband, gas, electricity, etc.. offer cheaper services if you use paperless billing. Does anyone have any difficulty when they need to show proof of address for day to day issues. Recently I applied for a nursery place for my daughter and the school wanted 2 proof of addresses. They did not accept online copies of bills. This really limits what proof you can show.

I was surprised too & I did check, the London region first, before posting
  • A few points to be added to this thread:

You will not loose dual fuel discount
You are only tied in till December this year
You can be issued a paper bill upon request, free of charge
