Mortgages - what holds approval back on credit file?

Hi All

This is my first post, be gentle!! ;)

My husband and I are desperate to buy our first house. Im currently paying off three credit cards, totalling about 4K and a personal loan with a balance of about 6K

I pulled my credit reports this evening from Experian and Equifax to see if there was going to be any nasty surprises before we visit a broker in a few months (once Ive cleared a bit of the credit cards)

The only things I could find was one late payment on a card and two late payments on a settled account. Is this something that is likely to go against me? Im quite worried about it.

The other thing is I have quite a few settled accounts - will this go against me?

Im terrified of being rejected for a mortgage!!

Thanks all!
