Removal of chimney breast

Options
Been quoted nearly 4k including vat and redecorating for the removal of two chimney breasts. Is this quote fair? Also is it a straightforward job if done by a builder. I am imagining wall and ceilng falling down or damage to neighbour's walls. Appreciate some advice on this!! Thanks

Check to see if you need planning permission and I can tell you it's a sod of a job as I removed one in my kids bedroom and I couldn't believe how many bags of rubble I had to move.

Hopefully someone will be along to advise you more than I can as I did my work 20 years ago.
