Need laptop advice. Getting my first laptop for around £400-500 and need something with large memory to store all my photos and videos etc. It would probably only get used for surfing the internet and coursework so nothing too heavy duty, I do all my gaming on games consoles haha
So yeah, I've identified this laptop: Samsung R509-H500UK (it wont let me put a link in as I'm a new user, grr)as a possibility but, in truth I know nothing about it and can't seem to find any reviews on the internet or in magazines so is there anyone who can give me some feedback upon it?

Photos, videos, music are all stored on the hard disk, not in the memory. The 500GB hard drive supplied is capable of storing a lot of pics, video and music. It has 3Gb of memory which again is plenty for your needs.
If you find the need for a bigger drive, consider using an usb external hard disk to store your files on.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0 -
You should back up to an external hard disk anyway as hard disks fail!0

You shouldn't store stuff on HDD for a number of reasons.....
1) The more you store the bigger and more complex the MFT (master file table) becomes, slowing down your PC/laptop.
2) If anything ever went wrong, you'd lose everything.
Use external storage, seriously.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I don't store any pictures, videos or documents on my lappy's hard drive. I store everything on memory sticks or CDs. What I keep on the hard drive is only current stuff that I need for work etc and what I use at the time, but everything I want for keeps is stored outside the actual lappy.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0
