I have sent letter but no response

I have sent two letters to Barclays Bank and they were sent recorded. I have not had notification yet that my letter and the subsequent claim has been received and will/will not be processed depending on the outcome. Should I have had a confirmation from Barclays. Are other people receiving confirmations from their banks that the claims are in hand or what should I have got??? Many thanks
