I know what you mean. It's all we seem to think about at the mo. Can we shuffle to that card, should we pay that one off next...........only it takes ages from one pay day to the next. What a buzz though, when you see the balance coming down and not up. :j

Although the debts aren't good, it has helped me and my OH talk about money more. We never hid debts from each other, just dealt with it ourselves and made sure the mortgage was paid.
Now we have pooled resources like we should have done ages ago, and are making more use of each others cc deals, and hitting the highest apr's first.
So collectively our debt free date is much closer, and we help spur each other on. :D

Although i think we go to far sometimes. Even at 3am this morning when OH couldn't sleep (been on a run of nights, and still trying to adjust), we were discussing what to use his back pay for!!! :o
(Although the initial kitchen and a motorbike suggestions are now dim memories :rotfl: )

    Debt at lowest £9, 113 (Jul 07)
How much did we over spend whilst on maternity leave

I wish i was 55, two years away so i could pay my 18k debts at once from my pension lump sum when they pay me off.

    How sad.

I'm looking towards my 50th birthday (I'm 43 now) as that's when I'll realistically be debt free or hopefully before that, if I can work amazing miracles. Seems ages away.

This is a brillaint illustration of how important it is for couples to combine income/resources. SO MANY people post on here and say that they have seperate accounts etc. It also maks for a better relationship if you can "Dream your dreams together". Whether that is payingg off debt/saving for holiday etc etc. To achieve them together is great.

Its madness isnt it? Life is so short and we all want to do is wish it away.

I just want it to be next Monday so I can start my job and start earning (and hopefully be able to sign up for loads of overtime as well)

I find that I have to give myself a good talking to, sometimes, actually out loud too!

I actually tell myself "stop wishing your life away you idiot." Blimey, I was 50 last month....I certainly can't afford to wish any more away......I'm lucky to have made it this far. :o

Kev......just try to look at it as a phase in your life. You can make it so that it won't always be like this. Once this particular phase is over, the next phase will be a good 'un! :)

  • i'm always looking forward to the next payday and wish it would come sooner rather that later. luckily for me my main job, we get paid every 4weeks so the wait isnt too bad. my part time job, we get paid every 27th so sometimes is a 4wk month and sometimes its a 5 week month. but luckily i dont rely on my part time wages so at times forget that im getting paid from there!

i too am always chasing the overtime! every week when the rosters comes out im standing staring at the sheets for like 10 mins to make sure i havent missed any uncovered duties!! and the thing is im in competition with quite a few other people from work so if i'm not working a wed eve, (the confirmed roster comes out wed eve) or first thing thurs morn, then more than likely all the overtime has gone!!
