Tell these people about green shoots.I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0 -
Although I've used those phrases occasionally, I have always acknowledged the house prices indices whether they have fallen or risen, I'm sure some of the bullish posters like Steve, Dan and Chucky would acknowledge that.
Yes, with attitude'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
Totally agree with 'ad'.
Based on the same logic as the green shoot spinning brigade...If someone said to you;
"I'm going to punch you in the face once this week, next week I'll hit you 2 times, the week after that 5 times"
But after hitting you once in the first week, and 2 times second week, they then only hit you 3 times in week 3(instead of the expected 5 times).
You then turn round and say "Wow i was expecting worse, my situation must be getting better"
...NO you're still getting punched in the face in increasing amounts"For those who understand, no explanation is necessary. Those who don't understand, dont matter."0 -
OUCH!!!
Agree, doesnt feel any better:eek:0 -
The media has over done it in painting a dismal picture. All the talk of a depression, stock up on tins, the sky is falling in, house prices are going to crash 70%, blah, blah, blah....it was all over done. So now people are thinking - !!!!!!! it's only a regular recession. At this point it doesn't even look like it's going to be as bad as the 80's - and might not even be as bad as the early 90's.
So people will cheer whenever there is any news that proves all the tin foil hatters - survivalists - doomsayers were wrong.0 -
There's a lot of bulls out and about at present. Things must be really bad.0

Yes, with attitude
Well I'm in therapy for it, so go easy on me.:D
On a more serious note, I do think that many bears out there are a little anxious at this time, it's a difficult balance of not wanting any HPI or wanting for prices to fall further, but on the other hand not wanting the economy to go into complete meltdown, HPI and an economy in good shape generally go hand in hand, hence the dilemma
Bulls on the other hand should be relatively calm, unless they are highly leveraged in a precarious job, as if you own your own home, it doesn't really matter what happens to prices, you pay your mortgage and thats all you need worry about.0 -
I bet the writer doesnt show his face in the West Midlands where unemployment is now about 10%!!Not Again0

And of course people have to sell papers. Did anyone see that peice on newsnight about the disappearance of local papers, as quite simply, its an expenditure you can do without, especially in these tightened times when one already has intenet .
Its sad though, to hear of newspapers going out of business. We do also need some of this, for the real journalism that slets us know vital stuff about how we are governed.
Some people want to read good news. I can see why some people wouldnt want to waste money just to read about more doom. - especially if skint... Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
