HELP !! Gmail driving me crazy

Options
I set up a new Gmail account a couple of days back, thinking I'd like an account that's not tied to my ISP as I'm planning to switch providers.

Anyhow, what a palaver. I set up the account OK, then tried to "import contacts" from my old (BT) account. It seemed to import all my emails as well and delete them from the BT inbox.

Then I tried to log back in, and it said my password was wrong. Tried the password reset function, got an email saying it couldn't validate my identity.

The worst thing is, new emails sent to my BT account are disappearing about 1 minute after they arrive, I assume they're being forwarded to the gmail account. So I can't see them, can't get into my gmail account, and can't reset the gmail password as it won't believe who I am ! And there's no phone number on Google to contact, so I'm well and truly snookered.

Has anyone come across this before, or can you offer any suggestions ?

Couldn't you change the password on your BT account? That way Gmail can't log in and get the mails (I'm presuming that Gmail needs your password to access your BT account.) That at least stops you losing the mails from your BT account.

Halloway, that's a brilliant idea, I'll do that right now, cheers !

Rick44, unfortunately I've tried that and it doesn't believe who I am - I get an automatic mail refusing to help since it can't validate my credentials :-(

Have you checked you don't have any malware on your PC that's captured your details and someone else has been in and changed your password?

    Seems very strange

Very strange indeed. I use Avast, MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware and Spybot S&D, all report no problems.

Ho-hum, I guess I'll have to try and contact Google again - talk about blood from a stone .....

Thanks for everyone's input, really appreciated.
