    If you really need to get a warranty dont touch the pay monthly schemes from Currys and the like they cost alot more than paying in one go, https://www.domgen.co.uk is cheap and includes accidental damage and you can pay over 10 months intrest free.

    Sorry to go off topic slightly but I just had a look at the Domgen site and for a £380 hi-fi it was twice as expensive as John Lewis. Don't know how it compares to mastercare - but do your homework before you opt for it.

    I just bought a DVD player in Curry's. At the checkout the girl tried selling me a warranty which I declined. Then she tried to sell me a scart lead for £12 which again I declined.

    I thought that must be it but no, there was more to come!

    Then she asked if I wanted batteries for the remote control because "the ones that come with it only last a few days". I think I stood with my mouth open for a few seconds in disbelief before stuttering no thanks.

    10 out of 10 for trying to get added value from the sale!

    You have to also buy the product from John Lewis tho :)
