Mastercare - get 20% off in Currys

I have just received a renewal for the warranty of my DVD player. But something more interesting was on the letter, especially as I have seen a TV in Currys that I was about to purchase!
"......You may of course have decided to invest in a brand new DVd player or buy a completely new product - in which case, Mastercare Coverplan still offers great value. By simply handing in this letter at Currys when you buy your new product, you'll receive 20% off the cost of both the new product and a maximum term Customer Support Agreement when purchased together"
I called to verify any exclusions on product, price etc. There were none. Buy anything, with the full warranty, hand in the letter and get a 20% discount. I asked if the Currys staff would be familiar with this, he said yes.
So I went in tonight, got the TV, and the warranty was practically free due to the discount. Im very very happy!!!! Absolutely no problems using it.
Hope this helps someone.

hi got a Spear letter lol0

And remember - the warranty comes with a 14 day (I think) cooling off period so there's nothing stopping you taking out the warranty, getting 20% off your purchase, and then cancelling the warranty the day after!!!
HTH!!0 -
Yes you have 45 days to cancell the warranty0

I worked in Currys, and you will find that when you goto cancel the warranty they will move heaven and earth literally to get you to keep the warranty as that is where they make there money.
In turn they will offer you further discount...
Try it.. seen many of customers get this0 -

Interesting....I wanted the warranty anyway as the TV was £1300 and I want the security of the warranty for the next 5 years. So if I try and cancel, ho much are they likely to offer, 10% perhaps?0 -
I never take out warranties on any products - I think they are a waste of money and often inappropriate for the sums involved. For example this weekend I purchased a £20 sterling silver necklace and they tried to sell me cover for it!0

I read in the paper this weekend about a guy who took out a monthly payment option on a Mastercare warranty for his VIDEO recorder! Ended up paying over £500 over 5 years! He did, however, get a replacement video when it broke down at the end of that time!!!0

......................and Videos cost around £ 50.
As our American friends say 'Do the math!'
Most extended warranties on electricals are a complete waste of money. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Most are, I agree. But there was no way I was paying £1500 for a TV without some form of warranty. And when I purchased my DVD player all those years ago it cost almost £200!!! Nowadays though I use my credit card and get an additional years warranty that way, but in this case I would not have been comfortable with just 2 years wrth of cover.0
