Website problem :((

Hi All, I have got a website set up and have a little problem.

If I use IE8 or Mozilla/ Safari the site gets distorted. If use an older version of the IE it is perfectly fine.

Any idea how I can correct it? I ve done it from a template and worked in Frontpage... I know:(...

Any ideas anyone?

Not sure i can post my URL here... so please PM me if you can help.

Thank you

    IE8 is written to be more "standard" now so it doesnt work the same way IE6 etc did you've written the site in Frontpage which is well renowned for making horrible code and will almost certainly be your problem and why it doesnt work in Mozilla/Safari etc because it's working to IE6's way of thinking which is "technically" wrong.

    You can either put code in to detect what browser is being used and direct them to a version of the site that will render in that browser or take your site and run it through something like dreamweaver or hot fusion (have a look at https://www.osalt.com for free alternatives to Dreamweaver) tidy the code up and get it working in all browsers

    I had the same problem with IE8 on a site i did for someone, the easy way on this one is to get IE8 to run in compatibillty mode by adding the following in the <head>

    <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />

    This forum has taken out a space so there should be a gap between meta and http "meta http" :-)

    But you're forgetting that there is a large majority of people using Firefox who will just see a distorted site still...

    Did you put the code in the head element rather than the body ?

    Look through the code and place it after <head> but before </head>
