Hi we have just recieved a welcome pack from scottish power saying there supplying our gas and electricity, i just wanted to know if i would be better of switching and getting a better deal or are all gas and electricity suppliers similar prices?

Estimate how many kwh you might use (or us arbitrary figures, say 3000kwh elec and 15000kwh gas, if you can't guess) and put into comparison site using your post code. If a SP tariff comes top, you can switch to that over the phone. If another supplier, consider switching and getting cashback. Meanwhile, contact SP and get put on their cheapest (usually online with monthly DD) tariff. Avoid any tariffs with tie ins.0
