mobile phone upgrades

>:( I am so annoyed!!! Basically, went to Chitter Chatter to get my phone upgraded, after having received calls on my mobile saying I was up for one. Went it, and got the new mobile, but not one had told me it meant a 12 months renewal. When I tried to cancel it, T mobile said they couldn't do anything as the handset had been given to me by Chitter Chatter. They recommended I go back to them - I tried this to no avail. Basically, whilst T mobile could have cancelled the contract for me as i was still within the seven days delay, they couldn't do it because I had taken the phone at Chitter Chatter, who says their upgrade are definitive and irrevocable!!
Why aren't consumers informed of this? Why are conditions different depending on where you get your T mobile contract from?
It's so infuriating especially as the shops just look like T mobile shops - how can a consumer know it changes his right to give the phone back??

Ring trading standards today. I think - but I might be wrong you have signed a new credit agreement. With any credit agreement you have a 7 day cooling off period. Therefore you should be able to cancel the contract. I don't know where this leaves you with the phone though. Most companies seem to accept returns within 7 days but they may levy an admin charge if you have used the phone. Double check the information they have given you when you took out the upgrade. You should have a new contract.
I have to say though that I thought most people were aware they were signing for another 12 months when they upgraded.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)
