I need to stay with my mother for a few days as she's not well - if I take my sky router with me and connect it to her phone line, can someone please tell me if I would still be able to connect to my IP. Or will it only work from my landline?

It's worth a try, but something tells me it won't work because you buy broadband on your telephone line using your telephone number, so sky will have made changes to your line so their service will work. Your mother's phone line will not have these changes made to her line.

The next best thing would be to use your mobile phone as a bluetooth modem? A dial-up connection or one of them mobile broadband services

It will only work on your landline.

Maybe a kind neighbour would let you use their wireless connection temporarily...

and by that the OP means ask them nicely first dont go oh look an unsecured network yoink as that is illegal and people have been prosecuted for it.

and as you've already read your username/password will only work on the line associated with those details so you can't move the router and use it there.

I think you can do this with Be if both lines are with Be as they dont use a username/password but if both lines had BB from Be on then there wouldn't be any point so the whole thing is moot anyway lol

You don't really want to be doing that because you're giving them access to your computer.
