Yesterday, I had to ring 12 times, over the space of almost 2 hours and argue to the point where I lost my temper a few times (very unlike me as a trained and nationally accredited Conflict Management tutor). I had the same conversation with a few of their call centre staff. The jist is I decided to ditch my PAYG phone for another network especially as Orange have an offer on where you get 6 months free Blackberry services, and I'd spend less money overall there plus 3 don't do the Blackberry, at least not on PAYG.
After the mandatory opening speil:
Me: "Hiya, I'm just calling to request my PAC code as I want to use my number on my new phone."
3: "May I ask why you are leaving?"
Me: (Explain the above)
3: "OK, I'll just transfer you to someone who can do this."
(The opening operators were all nice, it was the people they transferred me to who peed me off).
Now transferred having been held in a queue...
3: (Ask for ALL my details etc again). I give them. "May I ask why you are leaving?"
Me: (Explain the above).
3: Are not satisfied with this and keep asking the same questions over and over to the point where I consider making something up to get it over with.
Me: "I don't mean to be rude but I'm in a bit of a hurry, besides which I've actually already bought and activated my new phone. So I'd really appreciate the PAC code."
3: Clearly not understandig this, ask the same questions over and over.
Me: Trying not to explode....."I'm sorry, we've had this conversation over and over and it's only serving to annoy me and confirm that leaving 3 is the best decision, so would you please give me the PAC code?"
3: "But we want to help you..."
Me: I cut in..."If you want to help, you'll give me the PAC code."
3: Ask the same questions AGAIN....Repeat the above few steps.
Me: *explode and hang up*
After that happened 11 times, I rang up and asked the operator not to transfer me to anyone but a manager. The guy was nice but a bit dim so I made up a new law; I said that if I didn't get my PAC code immediately, then 3 would have a case to answer for false imprisonment of data. They sh4t themselves and co-operated immediately. I then burst out laughing hysterically as I was deliriously angry beforehand. Job done.

Glad you managed to get your PAC eventually but I have a wee bit of advice if you are ever needing to get a PAC again. When the network ask why you are leaving explain that your are now being supplied a mobile by work for all of your calls and that they are allowing you to port in your number. They really cant objection handle that one0

Thanks for that, although Three can't object to the fact they don't do the Blackberry in PAYG.0
