I have backed up my sat nav. I think I will need a memory card as its all of south east america map to download. What memory card size would I need for this?

Most of the TomToms will acccept an SD card up to 2GB, not more. But check the TT help pages for info on your particular model. The method of installing a map varies according to the particular model, some need you to copy over at least one voice and the application software, others don't.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
