I now really RESENT paying £3 for beer that I can buy for 80p a bottle.

Thinking of someone going out twice per week.
Friday night - few beers £15, taxi £5, few more beers £10, getting into club £5, cloakroom £5, round of spirits £10, few more beers £10, kebab £5 , taxi £5.

    That's £70.

Then they have a quiet night Sat - few beers £10, quick bite £7, another beer £5
    call it £25.

    £95 in one weekend.

Four times per month £380 per month gone.

    Call it £4K per year.

Now, I still go out, but not as often, and when I do go out I enjoy the novelty, but I'm also careful about not blowing the money on nothing.

I'm not going out either now....although I was supposed to be. People have cancelled for various different valid reasons however I was *really* in the mood for a fun but frugal night out just supping a couple of pints of Guinness. sigh. Oh well at least the new series of Green Wing starts tonight on Channel 4. The first series was superb so hopefully the second one will be great too.

I was a bit of a party animal too forsya so i can sympathise.

Thanks everyone, just needed a moan...

I guess it is cos I am/was a bit of a party animal, I just love dancing and listening to music in clubs, don't necessarily have to get drunk, but just love being out

Me too. I only really get the chance to go out about once every month or two but nowadays I enjoy it so much more when I do go out.

I've found that if I'm really skint but cannot bear another evening of watching TV and painting my nails that I can go out sober and be the designated driver; my mates don't mind as they get me to taxi them home for the price of a couple of glasses of coke each and I find that once I start dancing I get so hyper that I don't care about beer! :)

What about organising a bring a bottle party for a week coming up soon? get together with a few mates and all have a cheap night in. the organising can be as much fun as the actual drinking :)

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Hey OP, I know exactly what you mean :( I always used to be out at the weekend religiously (part of a dance troupe doing podium dancing/pole dancing and all sorts). Weekends were my main release from work but since focusing on being DF, I've stopped going out and spend most the weekends in. I miss the troupe :,(....

My OH is going out tonight without me which is cool, I insist on it actually or there would be 2 of us without a social circle heh.

I miss weekend with a pain, it doesn't feel right sitting in so I go a bit crazy when here on my own :( I spend time on the DFW board trying to stay sane and thinking about when I can finally go out again whilst listening to dance music :) It helps.

I love staying in with not much to do at the weekends, I spend quite a few nights away on business and it's lovely to spend time in my home with the people I love.

Staying in doesn't have to be boring, get some friends round, they bring a bottle or two, you cook up a chilli (easy and cheap) and have a great time together.

Just take the £70 you will save on going out and pay it off your debts
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.
