Problem with car

My car keeps stalling when I slow down, doesn't matter if I am in gear or not. I slowed down to go around a corner and it stalled and even when I am sat at traffic lights with handbrake on and in neutral I will still stall 6/10 times. I have to keep revving the the lights to keep it running
Another problem I have found is that when I am going along at any speed I feel the car 'shaking' backwards and forwards (kind of hard to explain). And it feels like it is stuggling sometimes.
I am taking to garage hopefully tommorow, is this serious I wonder?

it is a ford fiesta mk40

The 'shakin backwards and forwards' could be the engine misfiring. Are there any warning lights illuminated on the dashboard?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

It could be the crank position sensor, it should show up any fault codes when they run a diag0

Actually the OP has a phobia of hemo's, whatever they are. They didn't exist the last time I looked, but hey, these names get invented so quick, so who am I to say?Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
I believe that the mk 4 were all carburettors and not fuel-injected? If so, it sounds like a classic case of dirt in the carb/s: The dirt floats up and blocks the jets, the car stalls, the dirt drops down again. The dirt also floats around randomly so sometimes it's ok, other times it'll play up.
If this is the case, then a simple clean will do it. Either way, it definitely needs the garage to diagnose it.
(Oh and for those that still struggle with Google even though it's quicker than posting here: Hemophobia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemophobia)0 -
