Moorgate and "London Terminals"
Spoke to a work colleague today and he mentioned that he has a season ticket from Biggleswade to London Terminals and that this also allows him to travel from Kings Cross to Moorgate - in fact that is what he does every weekday and has done for several years. However, as far as I can see according to the FCC website tickets to London Terminals are not valid for onward journeys from Kings Cross to Moorgate. Am I misreading the information or has my colleague got a benefit that may disappear on his next renewal?

I think your colleague is not been entirely honest. Biggleswade to London Terminals is valid to Kings Cross or Moorgate, but not both. It can be used direct to Kings Cross or it can be used to Moorgate by changing at Finsbury Park. A ticket to London Terminals is not valid to use on the underground and never has been (at least not in the last 15 years I have been in the industry). If it is a season ticket it would have to be Biggleswade to R1256 for it to be accepted on the underground.Employee of a National Rail train company.0

This gives the list of joint-availablity routes, RailStaff. It would appear that Kings Cross - Moorgate tickets are valid jointly on both operators.

I wouls have thought that means Kings Cross OR Moorgate - not both - ie you can travel from Finsbury Park by Underground to Kings Cross as an alternative to staying on the train.
At one time FCC ran trains through to Moorgate via Kings Cross but I think that has ceased0 -
If you read down, it says West Hampsted to Moorgate - this would include Kings Cross as it is on that route.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0

Thats right, you could use it on First Capital Connect trains from Kings Cross Thameslink to Farringdon and Moorgate. However, FCC withdrew services from the Farringdon to Moorgate route a few months ago in preparation for the upgrading of the Thameslink route so there could be an easement to allow use on LUL services in lieu of the First Capital Connect services. For more detailed inforation you would need to speak to staff local to the area as I am located some distance away and work for an entirely different train company so I can't claim local knowledge on this one.:o
'Also Available At' season tickets work differently, they are valid from point A to either point B or point C, but not both.Employee of a National Rail train company.0 -
My version of a very similar ticket many moons ago was annotated 'via drayton park', that being a station on the Finsbury park - moorgate link.
It was not valid as you describe. That incurred additional cost but was also available as an alternative season ticket.
those being the days of paper i confess to 'winging' it myself from time to time.
What I don't quite understand here is how this gets through the LU automated barriers at Kings X?? - unless of course it has changed and is actually valid.0 -

It should be in the National Fares Manual, so you can look it up wherever you work. Unfortunatley, it seems the public do not have access to this information on the internet.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -
If you do a quick search on railforums.co.uk, they have the full National Fares Manual for download - I'm not willing to post the link here directly thoguh so you'll have to do a search over there :-)0

As far as I am aware nothing has changed. The Kings X to Moorgate route has been available for some time for tickets issued to London terminals using the old GN routes (not Thameslink).
Edit: I would assume that, as your ticket specified "via Drayton Park", that it was not valid into Kings X??0
