Help wanted car tyres

Hello, Im after tyres for my car Volvo 850 (dont laugh  ) 195 60 r15 88v. Can someone point me to some good prices, and also explain what the numbers are, I guess the 15 is the rim size, the V is a speed rating, as for the rest, help. Thank you.

does the forum get enough queries/offers about cars and bikes to justify a section? I didnt really know where to post this post?

I use a local trader who is part of the national Hi-Q network - very good prices and excellent service. They make a real effort and don't treat women like decoration or idiots, which is a pleasant change for a garage!

you could try https://www.etyres.co.uk - generally very cheap (i have never found cheaper) & they come around to your place to fix the tyres... 0800 number to dial too!
No reliance should be placed on the above.

If you don't miind 'H' speed rated (130 mph vs 149 for 'V'), Just Tyres have a special offer of £152 for a set of 4 fully fitted.

Look under the 'Special Value' listings. £39.99 each less 5%.

You can't change speed ratings, you have to get the rating relevant to your car. You may fail an MOT and your insurance company can refuse to pay out if they notice you have wrong rated tyres on...be careful, for the sake of a few quid difference!!

I use https://www.mytyres.co.uk and get them delivered to a local tyre fitters, then pay £10 per wheel to have them fitted.

    195 60 r15 88v

    195 is width in mm
60 is the depth as % of width
15 is the wheel diameter in inches

    Kumho KH11 £42.50
    Toyo Proxes £42.70
Bridgestone Potenza £49.70 each inc VATand delivery.
    Nankang NS-1 £30.70 each

    etc
    Happy chappy

Better still, use blackcircle to do the pricing, and generate a list of Garage addresses in your vicinity, then google the address given, adding the search term Tyre or Tyres to find out the telephone number of the actual tyre dealer. I've always saved more that way, as you are eliminating the middle man (ie blackcircle).
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.
