Terri I don't know why you appear to have got it in for me in this thread but I really suggest you leave it alone now.I ♥ MSE0

Found this Australian Customs website for you:

Plenty of other things to worry about than Customs during your Australian visit - apparently our country is crawling with more spiders, snakes and sharks than an entire David Attenborough series (although it's not really - the crocodiles ate them all...)
Have a wonderful trip wherever you decide to go.

i have never had a problem either, they are effiecient, polite, with just the right amount of officialness about them, after all its a very serious job they have to do, unlike landing at gatwick where you can just stroll though. i respect the usa securities way of doing it more than ours.jackieblack wrote: »Never had a problem with US homeland security - we've always found them perfectly polite.
i dont mind queuing up for an hour, if it means it puts people off who perhaps shouldnt be there in the first place.0 -
It's a very long way to go for a short holiday! It's a long time since I've been there (though going back this summer :j) but from memory they aren't any better or worse than anywhere else. They're extremely strict about bringing in any animal or vegetable matter, though, so expect to be hung, drawn and quartered over this.
It may seem over-sensitive to be concerned about immigration control at airports, but this is actually one thing that's currently putting me off going to the US. There have been lots of stories about appalling treatment of visitors there.
I went to Orlando last year and not only was going through customs nice and quick, the chaps that dealt with us had a laugh with us. I guess the whole thing depends on the individual, how many idiots they've dealt with that day, doing the same thing over and over and over again, being asked the same old stupid questions does get kind of tedious! On the way home I had a load of fridge magnets in my hand luggage so the alarm went off obviously. The woman was very patient when I had to empty out all 100 plus keyrings, fridge magnets and pressed pennies. The only thing that bugged me about the airport was they don't have any rubbish bins so you either do the rude thing and leave the rubbish somewhere or you take it with you. Always found it best to leave it. Wouldn't dream of doing that anywhere over here!!! The Americans are lovely people. Respect them and they will treat you like royalty!Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)0 -
Incapuppy, I'm with you. Why is the guy so worried about immigration, fingerprinting etc, when he's just flown 20k miles for a holiday. Visit a foreign country and you have to expect it, but there's something we don't know if he doesn't want to be fingerprinted or he doesn't want the Australian government to know he's in their country!Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me.
