IE8 not loading

Hi all,

Wondered if anyone can help me out at all.

Automatic Updates has just installed IE8 on my laptop.

I have tried to open it via the start menu, Quick Launch, and Desktop Shortcut. Each time the "Egg Timer" pops up for a couple of seconds then disappears, then nothing.

I'm really confused as the update list shows the install has failed.

I used microsfts online process to uninstall IE8 from vista usin cmd.exe as there'es no IE programs on the Control Panel Add/Remove section.

This has done nothing at all.

I have AntiVir and Spybot on my laptop.

Has anyone else experienced this or can anyone help at all please?! Im baffled!

Thanks for the suggestionm but all that does is guide me to support lines as my issue isn't on there and the uninstall link doesn't work as IE8 doesn't show on list of installed updates on Control Panel.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

I've had the update reminder for about a week now, but have put off installing it, seems a bit iffy.

reset internet explorer , may be an incompatable toolbar

Thanks for your responses.

Yep ive tried to download again but the install fails saying ive got a more RECENT version of IE installed?

There are no toolbars installed and resetting doesn't work either, im completely stumped and fear a full system recovery is needed, anyone have any other suggestions at all?!
