Thank your lucky stars that the man in question stopped and got the vet!! If you love your dog (which i'm sure u do) pay the vets bill.
It's a great day for singing a song / It's a great day for moving along / It's a great day for morning to night / It's a great day for everybody's plight.

Morning guys, was just checking my subscribed threads earlier and saw this one... needless to say I wasn't amused when I read 'my' post! My friends were round last night (to cheer me up as I am going through a v. bad patch with OH, but that's another story) and one of them took the 'liberty' of making a couple of joke posts using my account on MSE. Sorry for the offence, I have told him off. :o
Explains a lot! Hope your personal circumstances improve.

thanks for all replies. firstly can i just say, i absolutely have no quibble with the man who knocked the dog down, he behaved very responsibly in the situation. and i am fully aware that the dog escaped from my garden, and things could have been much worse. if there had been any damage to the young man's car or indeed himself i would not have hesitated to pay for that. what i was questioning was the vet billing me for his services when i in fact did not employ him to do it. the man had my number, surely the vet could have contacted me before giving these shots to check that i consented. and as i said, i wold have taken the dog to my own vet had i considered it necessary. but again. thank you for your responses.
