Anyone ever heard of this? Think it's made with potatoes too?? An elderly neighbour, now no longer around used to make it and it was yummy

yes! my favourite kind of pie! Think it might have onions in it too, not sure whether the butter is just in the pastry or the filling as well (think I'd rather not know as it might mean me not being able to justify eating it anymore!). Oh, I love these. Hardly ever see them now, so make my own. Sliced potatoes and onions cooked slowly in a little butter and made into a pie. Cheap and tasty and my very favourite kind of pie.

Im a lancashire lass and these pies are very common around here.
Basically potato and butter.
Even when you buy them we add an extra dollop of butter to the filling

I love butter pie!Used to get them from the local "pie shop" when I lived in Lancs. Haven't had it for years since leaving there.... So does anyone have a tried & tested recipe, please?:beer:0
