Using cashback sites for insurance

My car insurance is up on Friday, I have followed all the advice in the insurance section and got a good quote through Confused using Hastings (its more expensive going direct with Hastings). On the Get Pounds Back website they are offering £60 cash back with Hastings. What I'd like to know is do I have to go through a completely new quote for it to track (which would be more expensive) or can I use the quote reference number to pull up my details which I have from Hastings? Thanks

The standard advice is to clear your cookies, then do a completely new quote, to ensure that it tracks correctly. Although I have to say I rarely clear my cookies and the cashback nearly always tracks for me. I would definitely do a new quote though.

Use a different browser. Cookies don't cross over to other browsers. Once you get your quote from Confused.com. Just log onto your 'Get Pounds Back website' and go to Hastings and you can use your reference number. Works for me.

Some insurance companies have cottoned onto what was suggested in post #3 above. The cashback may track, but will probably become rejected before payout in most cases.
