When will purchase of new Vista laptop attract free Windows 7 upgrade?

I'm currently holding off buying a new Vista laptop until there is an announcement in the UK about an entitlement to a free upgrade to Windows 7, when it become available for shipping on 22 October.
This 'future upgrade' has been announced (or, rather, leaked!) in the US by Best Buy, and here's a very early story from January this year.
So my question is, does anyone yet know of an equivalent scheme in the UK that they'd be prepared to talk about?
Thanks!

Wasn't it 1st July, I'm sure I read it somewhere, by late Oct companies such as Dell will be offering factory installed Win 7 on new systems, so it can't be far off.0

Yeah, agree with the above.
It does depend on the manufacturer, etc, however I think it's about a month from now give or take.0 -
Thanks, both - but it would be nice to be able to find some Official Information about this, and whether the cost will be funded by the retailer/manufacturer or by Microsoft, or both in some proportion!0

It will be 1st July, however it doesn't have to be offered by all manufacturers. So you'd need to check with the manufacturer before buying anything.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0
