It's just a shame that people who are new to this and have moved out for the first time seem to get in trouble.
Thanks for your advice, I will just have to try and keep paying it off!

I would consider this a lesson learnt. I was in a similar predicament 18 months ago, never properly checked or analysed my bills/energy usage. Eon shocked me out of my self imposed ignorant attitude towards my energy account by doubling my DD payments. It was my fault, I never properly checked, I assumed that Eon would do everything....wrong. We, as in the user have a responsibility too, now I check usage myself monthly, and keep my DD account on the best tarrif, and in credit when needed.

    Hi amyjayne

Sorry your Direct Debit has had to be increased.

When you put your details on the comparison site did you enter your usage in kWh or put in a monthly spend figure?

If you entered a monthly spend this may have been based on inaccurate info; or maybe something has changed which means you are now using more electric than previously.

Did your statements show a debt building up?

E-on cut their prices at the end of March. 9% off electricity and 0% off gas. Not all of their tariffs were granted these generous decreases.

    Hi amersall

We did reduce our electricity prices earlier this year. You should have received a letter advising how this affects you.

Don't know of any other decreases yet but I am only told at the same time as they are announced publicly.

Sorry I can't be more specific.
