Been reading your diary, and all I can say is : GO FOR IT GIRL
Just a couple of points which may help you
    1) Check out the Freebies and Grabit etc threads on MSE. I have had a couple of FREE haircuts, and am about to post off for a manicure - for the cost of a couple of loo cleaners ! Also I sometimes stagger home with carrier bags of stuff from Boots, most essentials for the family on bogof, but always try and get a cheap treat for me. And Boots being Boots, they normally end up paying me to take it off their hands! So you can have treats for yourself which are free or dirt cheap
    2) Have you confided your problems in a close girl friend or sister ? Sorry guys but sometimes you just need to unburden on someone who REALLY understands you and what you are going thru - inc how you can be suicidal for no other reason than the time of the month - altho we would probably deny it !!. Reading your diary you obviously have hi and lo days, and a girl friend who is THERE for you would be brilliant. Even if it is just to share a glass of wine and unburden yourself to, or someone who will throw their arms around you and give you the biggest hug in the world. My mate phoned last night in floods of tears - a few weeks before I was sobbing down the phone to her. You are stronger than you think, But EVERYONE has down days where for no logical reason you feel a complete failure, and that is when a friend is worth their weight in gold.
As Alcoholics and Drug addicts are told, you have to admit you have a problem before you can find a cure. You have admitted your debt problem, and you clearly have plans on how you are going to overcome them. That is Brilliant. You have also had the sense to read Martins book, find MSE and pick everyone elses brains for help and advice - well that's free, so you go for it.
I'm madly packing boxes of stuff to do a car boot when it gets a bit warmer - and guess what, my friend said she would love to help me with it.:T

Keep up the excellent work, and I will keep looking in on your diary .
  • What a weekend I have had! I am absolutely shattered. I have just caught up with my diary entries and thank you dottyanne & lessonlearned for your kind words.

pot'o'gold - yes carboot was yesterday (despite the rain!) and I made £75.00!!! I was really pleased with the outcome and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. We are planning to do another one in the next few weeks so will keep you posted how I do on the next one. I am not sure what we are going to do with the money that we have made. (I can all hear you saying, PAY OFF YOUR DEBTS, but we have not got any money to fall back on to pay for any unexpected bills and I dNOT want to use my credit cards for these so I may just put the money I have made in to a high interedt savings account for now).

I had some items sold on Ebay Sunday evening and I have made just over £100.00 so I think that this weekend has been a fantastic result.:j

The Old Bag - Thank you for your kind words, I have been over to the Freebies and Grabit threads and have got a few freebies from there. Unfortunately I have lost contact with a lot of my friends over the years, due to both mine and their work & family commitments, and I have no sisters so I do tend to bottle up a lot of my problems. I can talk to my hubbie about everything but sometimes it is not the same as talking to a girl friend. I have found it a bit easier now I have found this forum as I find I can come on here and read some threads and this does help.

These next few weeks I am going to find very hard as I have got 2 exams coming up in middle of June but once I have got them out of the way I shall have more time to concentrate on clearing my debts and finding other ways of earning some more money.

I also managed 3 no spend days last week.:j
    Debt as at 31st March 2006 = £4127.31

    Debt as at 29th June 2006 £4106.54 :j

Original Debt free date May 2009

New debt free date January 2009 :T

    £2.00 Savings Club joined 12th May 2006 = £6.00
    20p Savings Club joined 12th May 2006 = £0.00
Will use both £2.00 & 20p's to go towards debt.

  • Well I have yet to have a no spend day this week and I am getting very frustrated! Today I have got to go to Tesco's so more spending there.

I get paid tomorrow and will be paying out some bills then but hopefully Saturday may be my 1 and only spend free day!

  • Just thought I would try and update. The last month for me has been very hectic, what with my exams(which are now over until September!), family and work. Hopefully things will start to calm down a bit now. I haven't had chance to update my signature yet and shall do sometime this week. But one thing's for sure I have not used my cards!!!

I get paid on Friday so I shall be concentrating more on clearing my debt in July.

  • Well I have just updated my signature and I am so pleased with myself. With what I have paid off in the last month or so I have managed to reduce my debt to my lowest! I have also updated my DFD using the snowball calculation and that has reduced to January 2006, it was August 2006!

I haven't updated my £2.00 & 20p's yet and will try and do this at the weekend.

Hopefully things are now starting to look up.
