  • Thanks for your kind words Lessonlearned. I am feeling a bit better today, I have been having problems with an item that I have sold on Ebay and have not received the money from it but hopefully I shall get the money today (in cash as it is £900.00), but unfortunately it won't be going off my debt as I sold the item for my hubbie and he is using it on his debts, but at least it is a start for him.

I think I shall have to have a little money jar for my treats as I have been so into paying my debt off I have been neglecting myself and I am now starting to understand that even though you are putting all of your energy into paying off your debts you need to treat yourselves too (as cheap as possible of course!). I don't get a lot of time for myself anyway, what with having a hubby, 2 kids, working and doing a college course, and I think that if I have a little jar just for me then that will keep me going.

Now all I need is some suggestions?

Suggest you look at old style threads, there's a section called pin money challenges. One of my best pain free savings has been no daily paper - just one at the weekend - either Sat or Sun but not both. This saves £5 a week, which is £20 a month and I don't even miss it now.

I do that and also my lose change pot. So far this month have saved £22 - £11 from pot and £11 from Bogofs etc, plus at end of month £20 from no newspaper.

I am saving this to buy some nice cushions, throws and accessories for when I do some decorating - they won't cost much. I'll go to Internationale or Ikea or Dunhelm where £50 will buy loads.

I think it's very important to have a treat now and again whether it's for you, your home or the family. I'll be treating my lot to the latest "X-Men" film as well with my savings.

I know it's going to be a long time before I clear all my debts but I just keep plugging away. The little treats make it easier to cope with.

Good luck & keep your chin up.

    Hi

I have been feeling really down today and yesterday.

I just feel really tired and can't be bothered to do anything. I have got so many things going round my head as to what to do to raise extra cash or cut back even more that I think that it is getting too me a bit. I am getting too obsessed with trying to get myself out of debt that I think it is becoming to get on top of me.

I am doing a car boot in a couple of weeks and have been selling stuff on ebay, even though I know I am doing all I can, I still feel a failure.

Is this just middle of the month blues? Does anyone else get this?

    Hang on in there!

It gets tough at times, but with all us MSE people, please be assured that we are all rooting for you. Hang on in there!
  • Hi

I am feeling a bit better now, I had a good weekend nor doing much and just chilling out.

I didn't acheive my 3 no spend days, infact I didn't achieve 1 day! But never mind it's now a new week and I shall try and attempt 3 no spends this week. Hopefully today will be day 1.

I have joined both the £2.00 and 20p clubs and will use this extra money to pay off my debts, I have got a tin that you need a tin opener to get into so I shall save what I can and open it at the end of this year. I have also dug out a money box, in the shape of a dalmation, and shall use that for my treat tin.

    Thanks for everyones support!

  • Well yesterday I paid the gas bill, and I am hoping that today will be my 2nd no spend day of the week.

Put loads of stuff on ebay last night as it was a 5p listing day, these all finish on Sunday night and I am just hoping and praying that everything goes.

  • Well yesterday I managed my 2nd no spend day of this week. Wednesday I spent £20.00 on D1 brownie fees and nothing else. Today I have to go to Tesco's but I am hoping that I won't spend too much.

Tommorrow I am at college all day on a study day so nothing will be spent there so hopefully I am on my way to 3 no spends this week.

I checked my bank account today and noticed that I had 33p interest :j

    Hi desperately seeking

just caught up with your thread whilst doing some printing off of work I bought home - in between cooking dinner - talk about multi tasking.

Glad to see you are doing so well.

Like you I've had a couple of down days this week - I get really tired and then can't sleep. How daft is that. Problem is when I get tired I tend to feel a bit low and start to feel that I'm not paying off the debts fast enough.

Keep up the good work. you're making good great progress.
