Sometimes defaults/adverse data can disappear because of some incorrect address or postcode created from addresses links section but if it has not been removed by the company concerned, then it is possible the lenders will see the hidden data....because of your name and dob.... it is all interlinked....
Just call and ask the relevant credit reference agency whether they have account number XXXXXX... they will almost certainly will find it, but because of the incorrect addresses, it can disappear itself on the credit file...there are hundred of millions of data on their systems bear that in mind.
The only way to know for sure is to apply for credit and see what happens.
Thanks everyone for all your contributions. So my initial suspicions were correct then. There can be hidden info on your report which you do not see but lenders will see. In as much as I understand why this can happen, I think it is stupid that the CRAs don't at least make people aware of these things especially of they are paying a monthly fee to them. My partner will have to sort out his mess but lets assume it was a case of someone stealing your identity and obtaining credit and defaulting. On the face of it, you would see your report and not even think for one second there is a problem with it especially if there isn't a CIFAS flag. It is possible this will be highly unlikely but there is a slim chance it could still occur.0 -
