Is it a compost bin (square) or a green cone?
We have both and they are for different materials. When you get it there will probably be a pack telling you what you can and cant put in it. I would recommend getting a green cone too as they take all your kitchen scraps even cat and dog feaces and break it down.
Composters are generally for garden waste, grass cuttings, leaves etc. This link is for our local council but compost is compost!!

If I used sawdust for our rabbit, I'd put it in. Ours is now full, it took a lot longer than we thought to fill 220 litres, but this is what we put in, and it's breaking down nicely!
grass cuttings/weeds
leaves and dead bedding plants/prunnings
fruit and veg peelings
egg shells
toilet/kitchen roll tubes
tea bags/used fresh coffee
rabbit poo and straw
Urine
As Firstclassmale said, the bin will come with a do/don't leaflet, ours also had a problem list and how to solve them if the compost doesn't seem to be working or is smelling etc
Now debating whether to get another, the price is great £4 delivered, it's just where to put it along with the other one and the 4 council bins...they're taking over!Laughter is the sun

You are lucky ! The composter from our local council are £10 each. I don't know where to site mine for the compost to break down quickly - should it be in a sunny position - or doesn't it matter?0

It's ideal in a partially sunny spot, it'll still work in a shady spot but at a slower rateLaughter is the sun
