Hi , Probably stupid question. But just received my new laptop Advent 6553, which I won:j. It is wireless enabled, and I have a BT2.0 wireless hub. Do I need a Bt vista disc set up, as I only have a Bt xp set up disc, to get it to link up to the hub. Completley clueless, but I think mum had to do it with hers:confused:
Thanks in advance

You don't need a disc at all I think

Just search for wireless networks click yours and enter the passkey (old bt hub had it written on it not sure about 2.0)

Running the CD just installs all the useless BT bloatware.
Makes sure you connect using WPA encryption, don't use WEP encryption if it is the default. Change the setings in the router if necessary to enable it.

On the back of the bt home bub will be the wep code If you haven't changed it then the code will just be this.

Search for wireless networks on the laptop, select your home hub network, type in the key from the home hub and bingo!

Dont worry about the BT cd.

Do not use WEP, it can be cracked by a 10 year old. Use the WPA option.

As far as I've been able to tell, the BT Home Hub 2.0 is preconfigured to use WPA. It's only the earlier models that default to WEP.

You're right. Sorry, I read HomeHub but not version 2.0.
