Business 'policies'/red tape and Mesh Computers

Bit of an ongoing saga with my pc. Been playing up for some time and after doing some digging (advice on here and physically opening machine) I discovered 2 of my fans were not working, so it seemed that the machine was overheating.

Mesh arranged onsite repair with a company who only has 1 bloke who deals with this area (repair company itself told me this) and I had to wait 10 days for a repair date. Date came and went....bloke didn't turn up. New date arranged for today for repair.

Bloke arrives, finds loose wiring to fans, fixes this and fans work again ok.

Tells me that isn't why my pc is overheating and freezing though. Seems my graphics card (Radeon X800XT) is faulty and the fan on that is dead which means a replacement card. Tells me to phone Mesh and arrange new repair.

Bloke has had to drive from Glasgow to my house (300 miles). Seems stupid to have to do this all over again so I get him to show me exactly how to change the card (2 minute job!) and ask Mesh if they can just send me the card instead of repair man.

No.

Why?

Policy.

Aaaaarrrrggghhhhh! So...I will have to wait in all likelihood, another 2 weeks before bloke can come back AND it will cost Mesh a sizeable amount to send him up here.

Explained all this and I asked if it would make a difference if the repair bloke phoned himself and confirmed the card needed replaced. No...it's still policy. (They will happily send the repair bloke a card first though obviously.)

They then suggested I take out the card and send it to Mesh who will test it and then send out a replacement.

Asked them that considering the hassle I've had up until now and the fact that the fault has been officially diagnosed by one of their approved engineers, couldn't they just send out the part first and I would then return the faulty card to them afterwards, therefore ensuring I am not without my pc.

No.

Policy.

'You could see about using another system for the time being'. (They obviously have all the details of my last purchase from them and know I bought 2 computers.)

I was tempted to just go flaming buy a replacement card until I found out they were £300+

Aaaaarrrrggggghhhhhh!

I've been buying Mesh pcs for years and each pc has been a powerful (very costly) spec. I have always had good service previously but they seem to have become a bit of a 'Jobsworth' company lately. Think I may find a new manufacturer for the next lot I buy. :(

Beware companies with unbendable 'policies'!
