As long as you get your debits and credits on the correct sides, bankers tend to get it the wrong way round, remember debits on the left
I think you'll find it's accountants who have them the wrong way round ;^).
I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into a regular job. First time in 10 months that I've got something that pays regular money and that requires proper concentration.
Hell it's been tough. I can see why those miners etc oop north lost hope in the 80s.0 -

Best of luck anyway 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
My personal rate of inflation seems to be quite a lot higher than either the CPI or RPI. So, basically, employers are going to be saying I should take a 1.1% cut because of "deflation", while my standard of living is getting worse because of the rampant inflation on the things I actually buy.

Why is it that this deflation thing never actually seems to make me better off?“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

My utilities are down, council tax is frozen, fuel down, mortgage down massively. Food up and train travel up, but they only account for 5-6% of my income.0 -
What are you buying that has gone up so much?

In truth? I am buying as little as possible. food, clothes, rent (which might go down in the future, but is on a fixed 12 month contract ). Pretty much I am buying the essentials of life. This is to get as large a savings safety net as possible, before I go fully self employed.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I am guessing that you don't have a girlfriend.
When you do, you can say bye to that savings safety net of yours.Favourite hobbies: Watersports. Relaxing in Coffee Shop. Investing in stocks.

sweet. Just sweet. My money is worth more today than it was yesterday.
the -1.1% means your money is worth more today than it was 1 year ago.
(edit: well... worth more last month than it was the same time the previous year)
as RPI is currently rising (Jan was the recent bottom) you money is worth less today than it was yesterday.
from Jan to May, RPI has risen 1.3%
which equates to an annual rate of about 3.9%0
