Thread like this are the main reason I still read this board. It might be full of "useless crap" as my wife says every time she sees me reading it, but it is worth all the nationwide rip offs, cam belt this, have I been scammed by a garage threads for the odd gem like this.

    Cheers OP

On a very serious note, there was an incident near us where a girl was killed by a falling branch as she walked past. In this case the coroner said that there was little the council could have done given the number of trees in their care!

IMO the council do have a responsibilty to keep trees triimmed to a height of about 15 ft above any highway.

BUT I stil think as car driver, you should be looking where you are going and not be hitting stationary objects

It reminds me of that joke for bogus insurance claims Jasper carrot did many years ago, I was driving along a road and suddenly a tree leapt out in front of me

Hmm, tricky this one, maybe it was caused by an untrimmed bush?

Moan to the council and watch the lovely trees cut down. It may not help your claim but it may cost the lives of the trees. It happened here, the trees are dangerous said the council, no they aren't said the tree doctors. All the trees got cut down :(

I was parking my car on a public road and managed to hit my car causing £2000 worth of damage. I know- all the gags about women drivers! The tree that caused the damage was overhanging into the road and so I applied to the council for some insurance as there was no warning of overhanging trees and at no point did I mount the kerb.
They put me in contact with their insurers- Zurich who have sent me a letter saying they dont feel it is their responsibility and that the roads are checked monthly to make sure they are free from overhang.
I have photo evidence of this tree - and it is still overhanging.
My insurance was £400 excess and also next years premium will be sky high. Is there any benefit in a small claims court claim?
    Any other ideas,
    Thanks

    LMFAO you for real ??????????????????

So you want a sign up to warn you of a tree? If you didn't see the tree, how do you expect to see the sign? You'd then need a sign warning you about the sign which warns about the tree and so on. Ridiculous.
