Thanks again guys.......I'm very impressed with all of you! :D

I think the days when women used to be better in the home are long gone and men are every bit as capable and sometimes moreso than their wives/partners.

It's sometimes a cause for embarrassment for my OH as he is without doubt better in the [STRIKE]kitchen[/STRIKE] (make that) house than I am, he has more of an interest really and will take time to prepare a meal or conjure up some new recipe whereas I'm more of a 'chuck it in the oven' kind of gal.

However, every now and then I do feel I should make more of an effort and I venture into OS again in search of inspiration. My good/bad gremlins have taken up permanent residence on each shoulder........'oven tray / nooooo! cook properly' :rotfl:

On the other hand, he wouldn't know how to replace skirting or frame out a doorway......whilst I can. :D

I don't have any problem at all with the traditional roles being blurred somewhat and I think if people compliment each other in doing what they are best at, then all needs are being taken care of anyway, it it really doesn't matter by whom.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

I was thinking about this thread last night :) I was brought up in a household where my Dad did all the cooking and housework while my Mum was the main breadwinner. When I first got married though we had a very traditional set up, now my o/h does more than half of the weeks meals. I don't think its a bad thing for my kids to see that its not all 'women's work' .........

My OH reads over my shoulder and says " Do you have any recipes on that site of yours using such and such " or his other favourite is. " Wait stop I can't read that fast what was that about" So does that count? He does all the cooking and I do the shopping. He also does most of the household chores.

Sounds like he's got a pretty crap deal here!

Maybe you should spend less time on here, get off your !!!!!! and help him, hehe! ;)

My OH doesn't post but shows an interest in everything I've learned here on cooking and moneysaving! we shop together, meal plan together, garden together(he does hedge cutting and heavier work I do the rest! ) but I do all the housework, washing and ironing. I dont mind this as I like it to be done well and am good at multi-tasking! We both work full time and have 2 children. I cook when I'm at home and he does it when I'm on the evening shift.

Meh, I do everything in the house most the time. Cooking, shopping, cleaning, organising and all the garden projects. A man's work is never done *sigh*

My o/h loves this board, he reads the posts regularly along with the Techie board and the Ebay board.
We share the cooking although he does more than I do of OS cookery....I just get urges to make cakes :o I do most of the housework though so I guess it evens out.
I enjoy cooking almost anything (except maybe omlettes) although Philippa does a better Delia Coffee & Walnut cake than I can ;) My main reason for cooking so much though, is to avoid doing the housework, which I really can't stand  so it's real useful to have an O/H who's dirt threshold is so much lower than mine :D
